I Like 'Em Afterall

I've finally begun to enjoy my highlights and "own" them now that the tones are softer. I got lots of compliments at church today, one in particular from my sister, Gladys; who recently became conscious of Sisterlocks once mom got them otherwise it was just something new that Blaq was tryin'.
Mom made an uncharacteristiclly bold and brave step and I'm so proud her! When we're together people can see what is and what is to be - a powerful testimony to Sisterlocks and natural freedom.
Harriett Tubman said, while being interviewed about freeing one thousand of the enslaved...
"I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves. "

Might the same hold true for our Natural Awakenings?

The Photo Shoot

I asked X to take some pics of me to submit to a national magazine for an upcoming spread on "Ageless Beauty." The criteria - look 10 years younger than your age, submit a face and full length shot and your birthdate. I won't know if I'm selected for a few months, but I'll be sure to keep you posted. And YOU KNOW if I make it, I'm gonna give a shout out to all my Sisterlocks sistuhs.

We had a great time taking the photos and they all came out so nicely that I thought I'd share them . Here I am all dressed up, feeling pretty at 25 and a half months on lock down and still loving my Sisterlocks!

Style: Caruso set. Used all of the curlers including the tiny ones in the crown and used fewer locks per roller for more curl.

Open & Close

These two locks inadvertently fell while I was putting my hair up providing the perfect photo op to demonstrate an open lock and a closed lock. The open lock has the curly end. The closed locked is fully encased. Most of my locks are closed after two years and I'm still loving my Sisterlocks!
