What Sparsity? (Client Feature)

This particular client had the sparsest hair of anyone I have transitioned.  She'd suffered hair loss due to perms, microbraids and illness. We had extensive discussions regarding her decision to lock. I felt assured she was ready.  From day one she put on her makeup, earrings and confidently rocked her Sisterlocks like the tall, beautiful, dark Nubian Queen she is.  Check out her volume a mere three months later.  After I did her comparison shot, I had to go back to my records and confirm for myself that it had only been three months.  Her hair is healthier, thicker, fuller and growing.  What!?  What!?  What sparsity!?  Sparse this - Sisterlocks!

A Reader's Response:

Hi BlaqKofi...

Been stalking your blog for over a year and recently started following :) You helped me find the guts to go all out and start my own transition from traditional locs to microlocs.

Unfortunately it couldn’t be sisterlocks as there are no consultants in South Africa or any of the nearby countries. Thank you for this post. My own hair is not very thick so I’ve been having ‘volume’ nightmares when my own locks mature… perhaps there’s hope for me too!!

This response demonstrates the power of sharing knowledge and our experiences.  It's what Natural Awakenings is all about and why I continue to blog.   Thank you sister of the Motherland.

  1. Wow, that's pretty awesome! Locs are a wonderful thang and there's a lot of good to say when it comes to them.
Also want to say that I recently subscribed to your blog and I love it. I look forward to reading your posts and listening to your music.

  5. I hope you don't mind, I will link this to the "NP" Forum, for sisters who think they have too much space showing when they want locks.

  7. Very encouraging! Thank you Blaq, for showing this. The lady will end up with full-looking locs. This is the reason why I transitioned from TLS to SLS(my hair looked thin on the top/crown area). After getting SLS, I'm not kidding when I say others cant tell by looking at my locs. The coverage is that good.
To gerry above, there's hope. Just take a look at my blog.
