No More Braiding & Banding!

No more braiding and banding for me! I had my six month retightening yesterday and my consultant said I could stop braiding and banding when I wash my hair. I'm excited and apprehensive. My locking process has gone so smoothly...I almost hate to stop. (I know some of you will think I'm crazy!)

I remember reading how Sandy went out and purchased some special hair products to celebrate not having to braid and band anymore. I think I'll do the same (smile). This calls for another visit to Sandy's web site to read her experience during this next phase I'm going into!

Can anyone tell me if you noticed any difference in the hair the first time after washing without braiding and banding?

This time Gigi said that I had a "growth spurt." Lots of new growth! She also encouraged me to wear my hair the way I'm comfortable with rather than being concerned with freestyling. She said the soft curl look and braid out just may be my signature Sisterlocks style. I had never thought about it that way, but it makes lots of sense - and I'll embrace it! When my locks drop, then I'll start freestyling. In the meantime, I'll keep doing what I'm doing. Aren't Sisterlocks wonderful?

Hey BlaqKofi-

I am happy to celebrate your liberation from banding and braiding. I can tell you that I miss the look of cute curls and waves the banding wash produces. For me after the end of banding came the bunching, so do be attentive to bunching potential.

Be Blessed and happy 6 months!

Congratulations on reaching the no more braiding and banding stage. I wore my sisterlocks mostly curled for first two years. You can really see the growth in your six month comparison. You're looking good!

Congrats on reaching this milestone. And so early! It took me a year and a half for my consultant to give me the go ahead. Funny thing is, I still braid it! It's just easier to wash and rinse in sections. But I will admit, there is nothing like the feel of water running through your lose locks!

Enjoy!
