Still BlaqKofi - Still Lovin My Sisterlocks

>

Many of you have written concerned about me and my locks because of my last post. I appreciate the love, but please know my locks are strong and still beautiful, so am I for that matter (smile).

Check out these photos from yesterday (Tuesday). Sunday night I washed, conditioned, moisturized and used the following rinse that I got at Walgreens for less than $5. It washes out with about 2-3 washes, but is not harmful to my locks, covers my gray and the highlighted locks.

I set my locks with bendable curlers damp from the wash, using nothing on them. I slept in the curlers and, as you can see my Sisterlocks are beautiful, shiny, healthy and still da bomb. This style will last me 1-2 weeks depending on when I choose to wash. It is my favorite style giving me body, bounce and fullness.

I know that you're accustomed to me posting only the positives, but I believe in keeping it real and helping my readers take the road less traveled.

So don't be discouraged by my bump on this lock journey, be enlightened and know that ya girl BlaqKofi is still rockin' da Sisterlocks strong and proud. I'll continue to moisturize and take better care of my babies as I did when I first fell in love with them. You know how we are, we get something that we've always longed for, then get lazy in love and don't give it the attention we once did. Anything that has gone wrong with my hair is due to my neglect - not being natural or Sisterlocks.

Remain focused, remain lifted, remain informed and, most of all,
remain natural! - Much love, BlaqKofi.

Thanks for sharing this story, you give my locks hope. Recently I was thinking about starting over due to some thinning locks but then I try to remeber the positives about my hair. Everynow and then my mind changes, however I am trying to hang in there, it is only hair right? Anyhow your locks are gorgeous and thanks for sharing the pictures!

Hi, don't mean to put a damper on things, but wont the rinse come off on your bed linen, cloths and hands, seeing as you apply it after washing and towel drying the hair??? That's partly the reason why I went permanent in the first place. Am about to get microlocks in less than 2 weeks and I have been advised to stay clear of colours that bleach.

Right now am searching for an alternative that means I dont do damage or leave a calling card!!

Going without colour is not an option for me because I havent enough grey to rock! Also I prefer the lighter shades.

Can you help Blaq?

Nubian1, always good to hear from you! This particular rinse is a "leave in" rinse. I apply it after I wash. I simply apply using the applicator cap on the bottle, moisten my hair with the rinse (or the areas I want to color). I roll and set or simply let air dry. There's no residue on my curlers, clothes or bedding. I love this stuff and it works amazingly well for such a small price. I don't know if you can get it in the UK. Hope this helps.

Like you, I'm not embarrassed about my grey, but I don't have enough for it to look nice - yet. So in the meantime, I'll keep rinsing - just no more bleaching!

Hey Diva! I am always checking in on you but not commenting anymore. I wanted to let you know that your consistency with this blog and your positive affirmations are much appreciated!
I need to do some cover/coloring I may check out "Fanciful".

Your locks are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! I started my journey just this August- how long have you had your locks? I have always had difficulty with patience and I simply can not wait until my Sisterlocks finally grow into their own.

Your blog was the first one that I saw when I researched sister locks. I have sinced got my hair locked, it only took me a few weeks to decide to lock my hair. Your blog is very informitve and true, I like that a lot. I'm glad your sister locks are back on track to your liking.

Thanks for the tip, I think I'll give it a try! Having to wait 20-30 minutes for permanent color to "take" was becoming bothersome - I had to remember to plan for it, I couldn't just jump into the shower when I was ready to wash. Question - does it only come out with washing? What about when you swim (not like I do that anyway!)?

As always, very informative. I am still not a year old yet but am in desperate need of some color. I, unlike you do NOT like my gray because it comes in around the temples and hairline first. Right now I have very dark roots, gray edges and light-brown hair. A sista needs something to even her out! Not sure if I should still wait or try your stuff.
I also appreciate the the real deal because I have already been thru my own ordeal starting out so at least I know that the journey is not always "fun" especially when we get lazy... Your hair always looks great and we all out here in blog land enjoy going to your site!

Your locks always looked beautiful especially when curled. What do you do with them when you are working out? And can you share your workout routine?

Hey Sis,

Thanks for the update. Since I'm on my last leg of color, I long to see how my locks would look if I had them colored like the day before I locked. Unless I color my locks again, I guess I'll never know. Until then, I'll admire your color and highlights. Hopefully we'll see each other soon!

You are my lock-spiration, I really appreciate all of the information you give. I've had my locks for almost 11 months.2 things I use almost dialy is Hairobics antiseptic Braid Sheen mixed with Hairobics Leave-in Conditioner (all natural ingredients). I mix them half-n-half in a sprits bottle from target. Try to spray the scalp then onto your hair.

As a caution I had to up my retightings from 4 weeks to 2 weeks because my hair was growing so fast.

I absolutely love your blog. It's so informative. About a year ago I came upon it, but couldn't remember the url and today I found you again!! You are one of the reasons I finally went natural 3 months ago and I'm getting spiritually and mentally ready to lock. Thanks so much for your positivity and beautiful smile :)
God Bless

Hi Blaq! Just wanted to write to you and let you know what an inspiration you are. I've been natural for a few years now, and I just got my Sisterlocks installed last week. Your blog has been so inspiring and educational for me. Thank you for sharing your journey.

My mom didn't know what Sisterlocks were, and of course I sent her right to your site a few weeks ago. Now she wants them, too!

You so rock for the updates. Looking forward to keeping up.

Also, I have a Locked & Lovely shirt I would be honored for you to have and post (yes shameless plug but you brought it out of me). Drop me a line if you are interested.

Continued blessings to you and yours.
