Sisters To Sisters

October is designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For those of you who have followed my blog for some time, you know that my baby sister and best friend, "T" was diagnosed four years ago. You can read the original post dated June 1, 2006.

There are countless ways you can assist in helping to fund research for a cure of this horrible disease. It's as easy as visting the
Breast Cancer web site and clicking a link so that a woman receives a free mammogram or as simple as collecting and submitting Yoplait Yogurt lids to help fund the fight against Breast Cancer. For every lid submitted by December 31, 2009, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure up to $1.5 million with a guaranteed $500,00 donation. Of course, there's the annual Susan G. Komen Walk held throughout the country each year. We can all do something - don't wait until it personally affects you.

I traveled home to Texas this weekend to spend time with my sister and family. T and I had a blast as we always do! And although you can't tell from these beautiful photos of her - she is very ill, suffers and struggles daily. Yet, she continues to inspire, uplift and motivate others who are in need. She has a big heart and is as beautiful inside as her outward appearance.
I'd like to enlist your help - sisters to sisters: For those of you who believe in a higher power - please remember my sister, Teresa and if you feel compelled to do so - please comment with words of encouragement for my "lil sis" as a very special gift of strength to her during this time.

She is indeed my Shero.

I believe God can intervene and I will pray for her. She is beautiful.(She must do all she can to reduce chemical overload and support her body with a good quality all-natural nutritional supplement.)
Many women have beaten cancer and with God's help, she will overcome.Thank God you're there for her to lift her spirits.

I pray that the love and laughter that you are surounded with, will also be the medicine that will strenghten your body and encourage your heart. Please that there are others who don't know you, but we know SOMEONE(GOD) who does, and we will continue to pray until this fight is won!!!

Teresa is blessed to have a big sis like you!!! I believe I had asked you some time back how she was doing. I am glad to see her looking well although she's still fighting a hard battle. I will do my best to remember her in my prayers, just remember that with God all things are possible.

Teresa you are a miracle, you’re blessed and highly favored. With the touch of God your body built itself from scratch and with that same touch it is healed. You and your family are in my prayers.

Your beaitful sister is most definetly in my prayers. Breast Cancer affects my family personally so I make it a point to buy the yoplait yogurt and everything else they sponsor. Because of your blog I am inspired to make a goal of participating in the next walk, in honor of your sister, my grandmother, and te countless others affected by breast cancer.

At the risk of sounding new age-y, I completely disagree with Western Medicine's handling of Cancer. I believe Cancer is big business and no one's looking for a cure so save your money. Or check out http://www.thinkbeforeyoupink.org.

(Off the soapbox) I've not had cancer myself, but I suggest your beautiful sister look into strengthening her immune system with a Organic, Raw Food Diet and exercise. I truly believe in its merits vs. chemo which kills off good & bad cells. I've met and read about folks who've used the body's own abilities to heal by simple lifestyle changes.

It's worth a shot, no? The worst that could happen is that your body is filled with healthy, life-giving foods.

One of the most comprehensive books I've ever read on the subject (and believe me, I've read several books, read countless articles and visited more websites than I could have ever imagined would have existed) and which I'm still reading now is "The Live Food Factor" by Susan Schenck. Well over 600 pages, this book pretty much covers all of your questions but ultimately you will need to use your judgment on what's best for you and your body.

This diet is also touted as a great cancer preventative.

Love, peace and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery!

For the past 2 days, I have been reading your blog from the beginning and enjoying the journey. I have been contemplating sisterlocks when I can find someone in my area to do them. I think its been close to 5 yrs since I've put any chemicals in my hair... and I'm tired of the ponytails.

My prayers are with your Sister T. When I do my walks, I will add a "T" to my memory sheet. My mom is a survivor and still going strong at 91. I've walked 2 BC 3-day walks and would have walked this year, had I not been laid off.
Blessings to you and your entire family in the coming New Year.
