Blaq's New Man

I finally have a man who loves me unconditionally, showers me with love and affection and wants to constantly to be with me - meet my baby, Malcolm.

Malcolm is a 6 week old Miniature Schnauzer. He came home with me on Thursday, April 19 and I am totally in love! He is the smartest dog I have ever owned. He has a personality that matches mine - he's not too hyper or aggressive. House training is going better than I could have ever expected and I am so totally content and happy with him.

By the way - he loves my Sisterlocks - chewing on them that is!

Oh he is adorable! I suppose this new pup has nothing to do with the empty nest syndrome right?

Okay... he is the cutest! Which will definitely be to his benefit in those times when he acts his most "puppiest!" :-) My doggies is 8 1/2 months old and while she was still great at housetraining sometimes we didnt communicate so well all the time. It will be important to pay attention to signals you little boy gives you that means "I gotta go NOW!" I have to admit I missed a few! But, after just getting my carpets cleaned yesterday, I am please to say that we have all survived in good shape! Now, we are working on not jumping! I have learned that puppies are a lot more like children than people think. But if you put in the time upfront, you will have a great well-adjusted dog! Congrats on becoming a dog mommy!!!

Malcolm and I appreciate all of the love ladies! Thanks Muse. TRA - you know me too well - gotta have something to love on and take care of now that my sons are gone. Creyole - mum's the word, unless you let Praline see my blog!
RDP - I appreciate the advice. You are correct on all fronts. This will be my 3rd puppy over the years. I am a mature and experienced pet owner now and can fully enjoy Malcolm - puppy love, growing pains and all. I am so meticulous with him, his handling and training. And you're right, he is very much like a newborn child. I'm like a new mother loving every moment.

Thanks again everyone for sharing in my joy!

I love Malcolm’s name, it is such a strong name. That name goes back a very long way with me, I was going to name my first son Malcolm Alexander -------. But God knew what was best for me and gave me a Boy and a Girl, Twins.

I used to happy a puppy named Pebbles. She was German Sheppard mixed with Chow. She was gorgeous, smart, and helped me learn how to love on a higher level. She was my first child. I never thought I could love an animal like I loved her. Although she grew to be a large dog she was a housedog. I kept her leash on the front door and I would ask her, "Pebbles do you want to go for a walk", if she did she would run to the leash and start tugging on it. If she needed to go, I would ask her "Pebbles do you have to go?" and she would go by the patio glass doors leading to our backyard and start pawing at the door. If she was being disobedient or jumpping on our visitors I would say, "Pebbles go to your rooom". It did not matter if we were upstairs (my first house was a two story) or downstairs she would go to her room which was the laundry room. She was smart just like her Mama and she was only obedient to me. When she walked, she kinda of pranced and always kept her head and full and fuffy tail held high in the air like she was royalty.

Thanks for allowing me to go back down memory lane and miss on my Pebbles a little bit.

When I get my next puppy I want her or him to be small like Malcom.
