Feeling Kinda Cute at Almost 6 Months!

I don't have my digital camera so decided to use my Web cam today because my hair was so full and pretty and I was feeling kinda cute. Got a new pair of low rise jeans and finally figured out how to comfortably wear them ( I am getting old). So I was struttin' my locks and my jeans!

The photos don't really capture the fullness, but here I am anyway. I'm two weeks from my six month anniversary and still luvin my locks. I only wear my hair in the braid out style now and spritz with water every day.

My hair is really growing (although you can't tell from the pics) and remains very healthy and soft. The braids are thicker (although still small) and very full. Several have completely locked and my hair continues to be the playground for my hands. I love the feel and texture and it's so exciting to discover another completely locked strand. My color is beginning to wear off (I colored my hair a week before locking). I'm afraid to recolor, despite the gray hairs showing, because I've read some experiences on LockItUp that coloring can cause dryness. So I'll wait until my one year anniversary, perhaps (wink!)

The stringy appearance on the top are ends that are not locked yet. On work day mornings after I take my braids down, I roll the top where the ends are a little stringy and jump in the shower. By the time I get out, there's a soft curl to the top that gets rid of the stringy look. I hand comb the rest and off I go. The back is locking much faster than the front and looks really full and pretty as you can tell from the above pic.

I'll be posting pics from our next DFW Sisterlock Gathering scheduled for December 4 at my house, and pics from the retightening class that LaChanda, Karen and I are taking from GiGi on December 9 which will be my six month anniversary to the day! (We started on June 9 and finished on June 10.) I love my Sisterlocks!

Blaqkofi,

You are really cute, no kinda about it!

If I didn't have finals around the corner, I'd be right there in Dallas with all of you for the brunch and retightening class.

Blaqkofi,

I love your locks. You have the prettiest face and you look like you're in the best shape. I bet you were rocking those jeans! I'd love some fitness tips!

I'm in the DFW area also. I may have to crash one of your get-togethers. I already have plans on Dec. 4th, but I will definitely be looking out for your next gathering.

Blaqkofi,
Your hair is growing and looking great. I really like stopping by just to see your wonderful blog. Keep up the good work. Take care and I am hating that I don't live in the DFW area so I can hang.

Gosh, your locks are so full and pretty, I have been natural for almost a year now, trying to transistion into sisterlocks, I am just not sure if I want to cut the remainder of my perm out or proceed with the perm, also I am trying to make sure I select a good locktician because they are only a couple in the ATL. So I want to be careful because I have read about the locks being to big. Any advice on chosing the right one? email: Edwards_Shannan@dkmc.org

OK, was this the best decesion you ever made or what? I know it was for me, I want everyone to realize the freedom they can have by not fighting against their natural hair texture. Your hair is lovely as are you. Do you cornrow your hair for the braid-out or just braid a lot of thick braids all over? The back is laying so nicely, it looks like you have some type of pattern or something.

Naturalyfree, gurl, now you know that Sisterlocks was the best hair decision I have ever made! I am a walking, talking, breathing Sisterlock advertisement. I cornrowed my hair in about six rows going straight back for this look. The back looks better I guess because it's locking first. Can't wait till the top starts to look that way. But you know in the meantime, I luvin' my locks! Thanks for the positive spirit, my sister and keep locking those heads!
