Malcolm's Legal!

I know you didn't think I forgot Malcolm's annual birthday posting did ya?  My boy's legal, turning 3 (21 in dog years)  on March 6th.  We celebrated with a new toy. (Click photos for greater detail.)

Up Do @ 50M

I haven't done much with my hair this summer except wear it mostly in a pony tail because of it's length and the summer heat - did I say length? Oh, the beauty of Sisterlocks!

Today for church I did this quick and easy up do that I thought I'd share with my readers. I took these photos myself using a tripod, so they're not the best. Since I wasn't really happy with most of the shots I included several in the following slideshow hoping that collectively you'll gather a feeling for the style and the ease in recreating it yourself.

How To Create Your Own Up Do

Supplies needed: Hair tie, a few hair pins
Time required: 5 minutes or less
Instructions:

  1. Pull locks into a high pony, ideally using a hair tie. (Hair ties secure the locks without pulling or snagging, they stay in place and they don't give me a headache.)
  2. Gently remove a few locks along the front and nape of the neck if you so desire (to add softness)
  3. Partially separate locks in high pony down the middle, gently pulling each side towards the back, tucking ends underneath hair tie
  4. Smooth and shape, tucking any loose locks with hair pins
  5. Curl locks at nape of neck and front
  6. You're done!

Peace, abundance and light until we meet again.

What's Blaq Been Up To at 31M - Part III

I've started to work out seriously again - getting ready for a special occasion. I was taking some pics of the back of my hair after a wash and was surprised at the results I'm getting (o.k. and proud :-) 30 minutes of cardio on the Eliptical 4-5 days a week (I love that machine!) Abs every day (tough getting results), weights: rotating days concentrating on arms, shoulders, and back.

Of course, I've been spending time with my miniature Schnauzer, Malcolm, who's almost one now. He's a sweetheart. It was touch and go for a few months. I didn't know if I'd make it through the house training and hyperness. Just when I placed an ad for him - he started to act like a big boy and when it was time for him to go to a new home - I found I couldn't do it. So we've grown together and love each other now for who we are...afterall, isn't that what true love is all about?

Happy Labor Day

Malcolm and I send blessings your way on this Labor Day. I'll be sitting down for some intimate time with my blog real soon. I'm experiencing life right now, the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. But it's all apart of my Natural Awakenings.

Until then...

Be good to you, be true to self and be natural.

BlaqKofi

I've rarely set my hair this summer, but I was going somewhere on this particular evening. Most of the summer it's been in a low pony using my B-Tie. I love that thing. Nothing holds my locks as securely.

Malcolm: Miniature Schnauzer, 6 months old. Malcolm has turned out to be not so "miniature" and not a lap dog at 20 lbs. Although, he disagrees as you can see from our pics. I still love him. He's my bud and his daily walks help me to exercise.

Blessings...(Off Topic)

I promised to share some of the things that have recently occupied my time and prevented more frequent blog updates.
My Lil Sis, T - My Shero

My family and I were blessed to celebrate our second Race for the Cure with my lil sis, T. It was an unusually cold Saturday in April with snow believe it or not! (It rarely snows in Texas.) But the weather didn't stop over 20 thousand supporters from coming out to celebrate and help to fund research and a cure for breast cancer. To be able to celebrate another year with my beautiful sister was a blessing indeed...

My sisters: G, T & Blaq
(I'm the oldest, T is the baby. Now you see why I call myself BlaqKofi :-)

Of course, you've met Malcolm already, but thought I'd share another pic of him. Afterall, he's soooo cute. He also happens to be the smartest dog! He already knows the commands "come" and "sit." He hardly ever barks unless I'm out of his site or he can't find me. He's not one of those hyper dogs. He sleeps comfortably at the foot of my bed and is sleeping next to me on the couch now as I blog. He simply wants to be close to me at all times.

He sleeps a lot and crashes at 9 p.m. on the dot. It's just like having a new born. I'm up at 6 a.m. to take him out, feed him and play with him. No more hitting the snooze button for me! I come home every day at lunch to let him out and play with him some. It hurts my heart to leave him and hear those pitiful whimpers. But it's great to come home and receive all of his love. Another blessing indeed...

And yes, I will be one of those people who blogs about her dog...but I'll be sure to include pics of my dog AND my Sisterlocks.

Free style @ 22M
(I've started to get zits, believe it or not! See the huge one on my chin.
I haven't had zits since I was a teenager.
I'm bewildered at this new development and I hate it!
Perhaps my hormonal change?????
I'm trying every acne product on the market.
Just some random thoughts...
Afterall, the title read "off topic."

Blaq's New Man

I finally have a man who loves me unconditionally, showers me with love and affection and wants to constantly to be with me - meet my baby, Malcolm.

Malcolm is a 6 week old Miniature Schnauzer. He came home with me on Thursday, April 19 and I am totally in love! He is the smartest dog I have ever owned. He has a personality that matches mine - he's not too hyper or aggressive. House training is going better than I could have ever expected and I am so totally content and happy with him.

By the way - he loves my Sisterlocks - chewing on them that is!
